Drew i found out that usung Osphor rust converter on rust with a bug sprayer will convert rust, stop future rust in its trakes. It takes about 12-24 hours before i can put my 243 white seal on. (Yep 2 coats). I tested other rust converter products. Osphor is the one i feel works best on metal roofs on older singlewide trailers. Ok nuff said. Oh, and ive been watching your videos for so many years i lost count! This is "Bo" in Union county North Carolina signing off! Drew, you and Paul be safe in this heat! Maybe i get down to coast and break some bread with y'all!
Okay everybody back to work, and get your minds out of the gutter.😮
Looks great, but I would have thought you would have used white for a cooler roof. Are y'all planing on coating the top white after install ?
Yes we are. Thanks for the visit
I did my mobile home roof , I used TSP to clean stains , 14 inch Perdy paint roller , $ 135.00 Henry 12 year guarantee white ellastomeric roof coat
That is the best way to do it
You don't need "mastic", the panels have an overlap and an underlap edge. So the underlap is the Chanel that takes the water down the panel and off the roof. So did you check to see if the panels are going in the right direction?
I agree, agree I did not know that at the time of the video
Wish us luck, Drew. We just bought all the lumber & 4 jacks for the same issue but due to roof weight. Gonna do it in 2x6 treated. We got ours for 6k so no complaints here.
Awesomeness congrats. You can do it.
Hi drew ur boy up in mass am buying the kool seal will one 5 gallon bucket be a enough for a single wide? 40 x12 ? Or buy 2 5 gallons ? Couldn’t afford a new roof money sucks lol thanks guys Joey 💪💪💪
2 5 gallon bucket. 2 layers
@@Drewsroofingandhomerepair drew my friend how long will the 2 layers last before I will have too do it again? Do I paint the roof first then the sides or sides first your channel is amazing if I had the money I would hire you but am I don’t have that kind of cash 💰 😭😭😭 Joey
Why not use Rockwool insulation?
Not sure I just think that what we had here was fine
Is that subfloor 2x4? I’m doing a Mobile home floor in oct in FL. The existing subfloor is about 3.5” thick - OSB on top, then some kind of d of paper water cells product, then OSB on bottom. It must have been a panel they laid down on the frame when constructed. I wish I could post a pic of it. Strangest stuff. Question for you please - my trailer is next to water and sometimes water comes under the trailer about 10” high under the trailer. Would you recommend advantek flooring?
Yes, sometimes you do run into them Mobile Home Floors that only have two by floors for the floor. It’s crazy.
@FLManDan-p8k Where are you in Florida? I'm hoping to visit end of the summer, West Palm Beach. I have renovated houses but not mobile homes. More interested in learning than in money
Thanks for the reply Drew. Do you think I should use Advantek or maybe marine grade plywood for my floor? I don’t anticipate it getting wet. I have used Advantek before and it is good stuff. I suspect it won’t decompose like the existing OSB floor. I think I figured out how to fix my floor. I’m just going to fix the outside 3.5 feet along the length of the trailer That is cause the frame is 3.5’ outrigger, 6’ center section between 2 I beams and then 3.5’ outrigger. The room is a BR but only 9’ wide - so I really can’t replace the whole floor cause that 6’ section under the wall. But I’m ok with patching it. I think I have a good plan. I’m going to make an abridged recording of it - maybe you could post it as a ‘guest’ recording. It will show one way to replace that crazy 3.5” OSB/cardboard wafer/OSB subfloor.
@@FLManDan-p8k yes use advantec
Thanks to Donald Trump to made “ Made in USA “ back to business.. 🫡🇺🇸
Why not use Rockwool?
I just like the insulation we use I think it’s just fine
Between the rooms by wall. Why can’t you put the frames of woods as 2x6 before you put the plywood under the wall to hold the wall up. As I got mobile home. I don’t know how wide it is. But know length is 74. It’s 1983 mobile home. As I need to repair the roof first before anything inside. Thanks for your video of your hard working. 👍🏼
Thank you for watching if there’s anything I can do to help let me know. It is hard to get the wood out from underneath the walls.
Was the original floor replaced? It looks like the outriggers are not doing anything? I have to replace an original floor that looks like it is a 3.5” panel from a 70s Nobility.
Yes, we replaced the entire floor and the end no problems
Where can I find the sticks that hold the insulation in?
Lowe’s or Home Depot they’re called insulation Tiger clause. They come 100 to a box or 500 to a box.
Hi Drew, I am looking for the metal sticks that you are using to secure the insulation. I looked up tiger claws but can't find them. can you give a name or post a link to where i can purchase some? Many thanks. You are incredibly helpful. With my husband passing, I'm doing it by myself.
Yes, go to Lowe’s or Home Depot go up to somebody that works there. Tell them what you’re looking for. They will be near the roles of insulation. My guess would be that you’ll see the rules of insulation on one side and on the other side of the aisle they should have, these little tiger claws they’re in a box. I guarantee you if you go to Lowe’s, they’ll get them for you.
what's the best way to build a roof on a single wide that has half the roof inclined on a higer level? like it slopes up and flattens out?
I have no idea ua-cam.com/video/0GB_wxU2NoA/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared

Should use a ladder bracket stand off. Gutters bend and scratch. Also even makes it a bit safer while your on the subject of safety first :)

Labor and material seven to $10,000
Dang bro, how many days did it take to coat that roof?
About an hour and a half, maybe two hours I charged them $700 and went home
Can you recommend someone in Atlanta, GA?
Unfortunately, no
😂 Dope just wants to waste a lot of your time listening to him talk.
Everybody has an opinion that video actually wasn’t made to show anything, but when it got such good traction, I left it on
The crazy thing is that conventional 3 tab shingles never discolored and stained black.
Believe it or not some of them do and some of them don’t the older shingles that were made of asphalt had a tendency to stay the color for the entire duration, the newer ones with the fiberglass in it seem to change color
Lip Stick on a Pig
My manufactured double-wide has a ridge vent that came with the roof and it has no peak. It's sunk down at the peak and leaks.
How would a roof style like this would last against hurricanes do you think?
Our landfill stop allowing the chain pull offs.
Hey there, we are in the process of doing this right now with our mobile home remodel. 2x6 throughout the whole ceiling to support drywall. My question is, will the walls need to be reinforced to hold the extra weight? Mine looks just like this and outside walls are most likely 1.5x3” (unfortunately they are not opened up). Sounded like he may add 2x4 walls to this one, which I would do if my walls were opened up. Im hoping the existing walls can support the new 2x6 joists and going with lighter 1/2” drywall. Any input would be greatly appreciated!!
My answer to your first question is absolutely not trust me your walls will hold a lot more than the manufacturer will tell you trust me a 3 inch 2 x 4 every 16 inches on center will hold a tremendous amount of weight. I would say absolutely redo your whole top with two by sixes and, as long as you don’t push the walls out, you would be fine and then put rubber on it
@@Drewsroofingandhomerepair awesome, thank you so much for the feedback. I will open up a part of one of the exterior walls just to see what we’re working with. If the framing ends up being any smaller (ie. 1.5 x 2” every 16”) would that still support the 2x6’s? I hope it’s not smaller but in some videos I’ve seen some interesting things in the older mobile homes. One other thing I should’ve mentioned is this is a double wide. There is a very large center beam (10-12”) down the middle. We will do the 2x6s from the outer wall to and connect to the center beam. So they will be 12’ 2x6s on each side of the beam extending to the exterior walls. Will this change anything?
I watched some of your vids from 13 years ago, you have not changed much since then, that tells a lot.
Well, I hope that is a good thing. I work hard trying to make these videos to where people can understand what I’m doing not everybody learns the same way therefore I just hoped that my videos will come out clear enough so they can understand how I did it and possibly they can do it, have a blessed day, my friend you for watching
@@Drewsroofingandhomerepair sorry, yes it it just shows you and your crew know what your doing, thank for the videos, they are a lot better then others I have seen and better made
Your story about why they stopped making these is incorrect.
Sorry about that. I was misinformed. I think they quit making them because they were junk and nobody wanted them.
✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️
I love mine by two
I would replace those runners with real ducting like it should be done at the factory.
Good idea I wish I could do that, but to be honest deduct is very hard to get to that runs into the house right on top of a beam
Thank you so much for this video. Super helpful and well-presented. Your time and effort is most appreciated!
Thank you
at 8:40 of this video, there’s a cream colored mobile home which has the same exact roof mine has and mine is leaking (idk where). What would u recommend me doing to fix my roof? would rubber roofing like this video work ? where are you guys located? thank you
Yes, 100% and I have done many that look like the cream colored house Watch this video I buy all my material at ABC Supply Easy Mobile Home Roof Patch. Easy and Quick! ua-cam.com/video/bguNpXSVWR4/v-deo.html
These roof repair videos are great, but where the heck are all your penetrations from your hood vent, stove vent, bathroom vents, heater vent,...etc.😅
All the plumbing vents on mobile homes nowadays they are going with ventless. It would be under the sink of your mobile home not through the roof.
Go on Google and type in ventless vent pipes
@@Drewsroofingandhomerepair it don't look like they're too reliable, however I can eliminate a lot of roof penetrations particularly the stove vent and heater vent... Stoves have self-contained vent hoods now, and if I go totally electric with the heating and cooling systems, I can eliminate my furnace vent "chimney".... It won't be a big deal to cut out for one or two penetrations, instead of dealing with the several that I have in my roof now.
Can you please help me? In the last 2 month a water bubble developed in our living room its pretty much in the very middle of the trailer 2012 champion shingle roof. Can you please give me an estimate of where the leak is most likely coming from for the bubble to develop there? We don't have any other water damage just that one spot. We're trying to borrow a ladder to get up there but in the mean time I was looking up information and found your channel. Were low income so most likely need to do this ourselves. Thank you in advance for any help you might offer
Also the roof is pitched not flat

Thank you
Im about to take my own roof repair this weekedn thanks to your videos. I haven't seen you add new vent pipes or hoods. Do you cut then for good or do you pit new ones?
I replace if needed
Yes Sir indeed
Thanks tad
I just did a roof this way. It was way too slow getting onto the roof. I won't do it again unless I have a proper way of distributing the solution. Came out fine. but and it is a major but. It took so dam long to get the roof wet with solution.
Bumber
A lot bad information in the comment section telling people to only put the screws on the ridges/ribs, that will void 99% of the warranties if you do that, look up the panel manufactures instructions for installation and you will find that 99% of the time they will tell you the screws go on the flats not on the ribs to secure the panels to the roof. The exception to that is 5V style panels those the installation calls for the screws to go on the V and not on the flats except at the bottom where there should be two screws in each flat to secure the panel from wind lift. The ribbed PB/PBR panels also get two screws at the bottom between each rib to secure the panel from wind lift.
I agree
That is an improperly installed exposed fastener metal roof. The first mistake was not removing the shingles, yes I know the manufacturers say you can install over shingles but if you are going to pay for a metal roof remove the shingles and have a water barrier i.e. peel and stick put on first. There should be two screws at the bottom of each panel between the raised ribs. The rest of the screws should be installed 24 inch on center or 12 inch on center. Depending on the degree of slope of the roof, you do not have to have adhesive where the panels overlap, if you are on the lower end of slope i.e. 2:12 you should use adhesive where the panels over lap. We have an exposed fastener roof but it was installed by a reputable roofing company that has crews that only do metal roofs so they know what they are doing. The shingles were removed and peel and stick water barrier was applied then the metal panels, the screws were properly installed as well, we have not had any issues with our roof. Ours used ZAC screws with EPDM washers that are covered by the shoulder of the screw to shield the EPDM washers from the sun.
Very awesome comments thank you very much. I think a lot of my subscribers needed to see this.
Thanks so much!

That's a hell of a good job on that mobile home! Very impressive. Cam you glue that rubber down to a roof that has a good thick coating of Henry elastomeric coating on it?
You can put it up there, but I don’t know if you can glue it down not sure if it will stick but I still think it will work and then you can code it WHITE. I think what you wanna know is can you put it down without putting OSB on there first and the answer is yes.
